After 2 years in INTEC, Shah Alam, 2 and half years in RCSI, Dublin and another 2 and half freakin years in PMC...i'm (not yet officially) a doctor! All sweats, sleep deprivation, gazillions hours in Library (and tears????) are worth it. CONGRATULATION to all my friends either in Dublin or my dear friends in Penang. We rocks dude!!! My journey to this point will not be the same without my friends. Thanks guys. I will cherish our friendship until the day I got Alzheimer's(hope not!!). All the best guys...let's see what is next for us! Hope something called "Specialist"(oh my, better think of HO 1st..oh my! oh my!). WE MADE IT TILL THE END !!! WOOhooooo!!!!

KARAOKE is one of the things that can release stress after an examination. its a really popular method among my friends! YES... WE LOVE KARAOKE!!!! I had Pre and Post GP end-of-rotation-exam Karaoke..haha. Both for different reasons...Pre one cause invitation from Sarah to entertain Fatin&co who come to visit Penang and Post one is purely for release tension (thankz Zaim for invitation) We always "ka-rok"(the sort-form words we used for Karaoke) in Red Box in Gurney Plaza because with just paying about RM30 we can karok all night until 3am and also the best thing is included dinner Buffet! The food is just OK but it is definitely become awesome if include karok in the menu! . Don't care about the pitching, don't care about tempo, don't care if Simone Cowell(or anyone who pretend to be Simon) is in the room! We just SING OUR HEART OUT!! All the stress drain out together with our voice.

but I said 'yes!yes!yes!'

Screw my diet!! who can't resist cheap buffet with some friends...???? Yesterday, i had my lunch(buffet style) in Berjaya Hotel Penang in Midland on invitation by Sakina and the gang. Actually Bistro@Hardwicke House is the first plan, but with no reservation, weekend is not the time for walk-in. Damn...The place should be awesome with only RM18 and free drinks! but luckily Sakinah had Plan B! hehe. In Berjaya, The buffet cause around Rm19 after 20% discount. (which we don't know for what??). The food is OK nothing that i will remember except for the roti Arab and its chicken curry which is fresh;y made. Other stuff that worth mentioning is ABC, Dim Sum, and the dessert, lots and lots of cakes, jelly, kuih etc!! I eat quiet a lot but i can still restrain myself, don't like the felling off over eating!! Overall, the place is OK for me but because of the companion that i have...its such a fun eating time. Next one, we better SERBU the Hardwicke House guys! make them pay for not excepting us!! GGGGrrrrrrr!!!

Event Sequence:

Preparation for the bride: sit down in her room and make herself beautiful with the help of Pak Andam. Hiding all the flaws for the big day!

Pak andam try to vanquish all the pores with his magic wand...cukur kening tu lg..iskh!

Preparation for the Family: Set up the venue...changing the house into a engagement friendly place. Clean the house, move the furniture, set up the dining area etc. All planned by our father and also Kak Dian. Our weeding planner/ sista also is the one who makes all the flower arrangement,cakes and the gifts( hantaran). Superwomen!

Event starts around 2.30pm with Marhaban and Quran recital. Continue with the some speeches from my family side and the guy side and also the discussion on the wedding date which have been decided in 6 months time.About the date, i wanted to remind my sister that don't you ever think doing it in Mei until mid June cause I'm having my final Med exam. I will be absent on your big day if on that crucial period of time:) After the discussion, its time to put the ring on the single lady....it is done by the guy's mother to symbolized the engagement.

Gifts(hantaran) were exchanged after the ring ceremony. Hantaran is gifts which is exchanged between the guy and the girls during engagement or weeding day. Below is the Hantaran from both sides. The Hantaran from my family side is made by our own Martha Stewardess :) Beautiful with all the flowers arrangements.

Basically the engagement ceremony is at the end after the exchanges of gifts. Next is to dine and take photos. Oh...Mr. Helmi aka the future groom only come into the event after the ceremony is done and straight away to the alter to take picture with his future wife. They looks so sweet together in pink! Congratulations for both of you! hope everything will be fine until the big day!

Going South Part3: Johor Bahru

Welcome to my hometown.....Johor Bahru, The land of the South. Hanif and Anom have the chance for a special tour to "Tanjung Puteri" from me...that's what i called L U C K Y!hehe. This is a delayed blog entry due to hectic schedule and because i need to focus on my Miri and Mulu trip blog entry, i make this a short but memorable one ;)

Danga Bay

1st stop in JB is this place. Danga Bay or Teluk Danga is a premier waterfront development in the city. A very popular spot for relaxing, and on clear days, you can even catch a good view of Singapore. Many interesting events are held there especially during festive seasons. Due to the fact that we went there during weekdays night, so not much happening there. We just take a stroll along the bay and eat at my favorite spot in Danga Bay which is the " Rumah Limas". Its a area consist of 7 type Malay traditional house representing 7 region in the satte of Johor. really nice environment to eat nice Malay cuisine.

We choose to eat in Rumah Pontian.

Taman Diraja Johor and Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque

Taman Bunga Diraja Johor or Royal Garden of Sultan Johor is situated opposite the Tebrau Strait which Royal Abu Bakar Museum is situated. The Museum is a previous Sultan of Johor Palace and thats why the garden is gets is royal name. Ita a beautiful garden which is a jogging spot for JBians. Near the garden also situated the Sultan Abu Bakar mosque which is Johor's state mosque. It was constructed between 1892 and 1900, under the direction of Sultan Abu Bakar. The architecture of the mosque was largely based on Moorish styles, along with some Malay influence. BTW, Sultan Abu Bakar is called The father of modenization of Johor due to its contribution previously in developing Johor.

Is something like Putrajaya...administration center of Johor which is also under the Iskandar developmental region. It is currently under construction and only few buildings is completed. In future is will be a prime business and leisure center with construction of Puteri Harbour, 1st asia Legoland and also a Indoor theme park consist of Hello Kitty, Barney, Thomas& friend, Bob the builder etc. I heard they still negotiating on 3rd theme park which target adults. Go JB!

Tanjung Piai

It is a must stop who ever go south.Tanjung Piai is a cape in Johor which is the southernmost point of Peninsular Malaysia and thus the most southern point of mainland Asia. surronded the area is a mangrove forest. It is such a beautiful mangroves but full of rubbish. This is because Mangroves act as a rubbish traps for the sea. I also see some exotic mokey called Cikong!:) yeaa!! and also mudskipper! skip skip skip here and there!

Pulau Kukup

Kukup, is a well-known fishing village with most of its houses built on stilts. It is famous for its fish farms and several restaurants, which serve the freshest seafood dishes, cooked in various delicious and tantalising styles. Pulau Kukup is a 5minute boat ride from Kukup town. If i'm not mistaken it is the biggest mangrove island in the world. It is totally made of mangrove forest which is a important habitat for alot of animals like monkeys, crabs, otter etc. Johor goverment are trying to preserved Kukup Island and make is a tourist spot....thus it will be closed for a year for upgrading.

State Zapin Competition

Hanif and Anom are lucky to be in JB during the annual Zapin competition was held. Zapin is a Malay traditional dance uniquely in Johor. There is about 15 type of zapin. Oh my..they are really good and some of them are superb. Really entertaining! My favorite group is from a primary school in JB. They moved like Beyonce!!hehe By far Hanif favorite moment in JB! yeaaa!! Glad none-Johorean can appreciate Zapin.

Going South Part2: Singapore

Singapore@ Singapura is our south neighbor...just across the Tebrau Strait from Johor Bahru, my hometown. Hanif really wanted(@ jakun) to visit Singapore although for only a day trip. Thats why Anom drag me to the kiasu land;). I decide to drive to Singapore rather taking its public transport due to the fact i wanna try it!hehe. My first time driving in Singapore is awesome and interesting. Singapore is so small that you will never totally get loss. As usually, the hard part is to pass the Custom, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex of both country especially Singapore. Each foreign car that enter Singapore need a autopass which is equivalent to "touch&go" card. Our first destination is Singapore Zoo.

Singapore Zoo is a world class zoo and it is a model for "open zoo" concept around the world. The Zoo is beautiful and surrounded by forest. The animal have big space to roam around and the zoo staff are really friendly and helpful. They have a lot of animals and about 16% of it is endangered species. My favourite animals are the big white Polar bears and the macho white tigers. Malaysia Zoo please take note, especially Johor Zoo which is a animal prison rather than a zoo. We are so unlucky because it rains heavily at that day. We are trapped at the snakes house for hours and at last we decided to buy our self a green ugly poncho... but after 5minutes wearing it, the rain stop...Grrrrrrr!

Next stop is Marina Bay which placed the famous Esplanade, Merlion statue etc. Its a artificial bay which situated at the end of singapore river. Marina bay become really popular due to the F1 Singapore grand prix which started last year. They bay is so beautiful with all the tall skyscraper and the durian inspired Esplanade. Esplanade is their world class theater which is equivalent to our Istana Budaya but with shopping complex inside it. Taking picture here is a must especially with the Merlion statue. The "make believed" creature is the trademark symbol of Singapore.

After Marina bay, we drive around Singapore city. We go to the famous shopping area, the Orchard road and the Arab street. So many shopping complex around the Orchard road.which make me wonder who shops there cause what i know is Singaporean love to shop in Johor Bahru. Arab street is the place where you can see all the colonial heritage shop lot and famous for their fabric vendor.Both area is lively and interesting. I wish i got a lot of money to shop there!

Last destination is Singapore Night Safari. We decided to go there due to raving review about it. Initially we thought that the Night Safari will be Singapore Zoo at night, but its totally different. It situated next door to the Singapore Zoo. My favorite part of the Night Safari is the "Creature of the night show" starring the big bad wolf, the laughing hyenas, the cute otters, mighty lions and more. The show is entertaining and informative. What i like about Singapore Zoo and Night Safari is they always convey the message of saving mother nature and the animals live in it. We took the tram to go around night safari because we are damn tired and it is 40 hectare big!

After enjoying the animals under the artificial moon lights, we say good bye to Singapore and heading back to JB. We have a quick Singapore trip and i personally enjoy it so much...Hoping the love birds too;)

Going South Part1: MELAKA

Last week i have the opportunity to take a short trip to Melaka the UNESCO World heritage city with 2 love birds;). Actually we are on our way to Johor Bahru for a short holiday in Singapore. Melaka has transform completely from the last time I'm there. Melaka town are more beautiful with all the landscape and all the heritage buildings are well preserved. My favourite is Jonker Street and Harmony street in Melaka town. Jonker street is full of character, heritage and culture. Harmony street quiet the same with Jonker street but it got its name because in the short street there is a mosque, a Hindu temple and a Buddha Temple. 3 different religious live harmoniously in one street. Other interesting places that we have is the red Christ Church area,the eye of Melaka, the rotating Taming Sari Tower, Dataran Pahlawan and last but not least the A'Famosa fort. Oh ya...the Melaka river cruise is great. The building and villages around the river is beautiful and soo "Vanice"(quoted from Hanif). Melaka have at least 6 museum and my favorite is the maritime museum situated inside a 1500 replica trading ship.Cool! If you have time, take a ride around Melaka with a beca@trishaw. The trishaw are so cute with all the flowers and accessories. Will definitely come back to this heritage city to fully experience it!

Papadom & Pisau Cukur

PAPADOM

What i can conclude after watching the highly anticipated Papadom is.....a fairytale story which focus on father-daughter relationship! Its a sweet, funny and entertaining film. Again Afdlin is so adorable and funny while Lyana Jasmay is a sweet heart. Afdlin has increase his credibility as a director with this film but still a lot to improve. Selambakodok, you can do better!! Character and story built up is weak. eg: why suddenly the professor eat together with Afdlin in the garden? Sometimes it turns into Disneyish "high school musical" with introduction of the college and the cheerleaders. The finale in the lecture hall is so cliche and again disneyish. I didn't say that Disney film is bad but due to fact that this film wins Malaysia Film Festival, let me wonder...is this the best Malaysia can offer? too high expectation maybe. but nonetheless the film have good entertainment value with a lot of message. Personally i will watch it again. ;)

PISAU CUKUR aka gold digger!
A good romantic comedy/mystery/fashion genre from Bernard Chauly who give us Gol&Gincu before. Its so funny and "gedik" in "legally blond" way but yet we still fall in love with the character. The beautiful Fazura and Maya Karin surely play their role greatly as the gold digger with a "happy go lucky " attitude. Who can't remember; "oh my Dior! Oh my Jimmy Choo! oh my Diane Von Furstenberg!" etc every time OMG words need to be used by Fazura character. All actors suited their role perfectly especially the newcomer playing Faqir, Maya love interest. The interesting part is none of the scene were shoot inside a actually cruise ship! All is a set and CGI. Fantastic! The script is well written without any cheesy line and it was beautifully shoot in realizing the cruise atmosphere. For the girls, i think you will love all the props, cloth and accessories they used in this film. The only critic is if only the mystery and detective part in this film were given a little bit more spice and excitement... sure will be more entertaining. Go and watch this film and continue supporting Good Malaysian Film!

Congratulation to my group mates! 3rd place is great. I'm so proud doing my 1st research with those lovely guys. We have our ups and downs during conducting the research in Parit Buntar, Perak but surely become a sweet memory. Thanks to Nick for his fantastic and entertaining presentation. Hope that our research regarding Gestational Diabetes Mellitus will contribute to development of care for pregnant mothers in Malaysia. Also wanted to give a shout out to our twin, Group 4A for their 2nd place! Group 4 sure kick ass!!

For passing my examination! Yea! Totally worth all the sweats that come out from my brain for the pass few weeks. Officially now I'm in Final med and hope it will be a great one. finger cross! Back to Medicine, Surgery and GP....back to be scolded by surgeon and doctors. haiiiyaaaaa...

L A N G K A W I

As you all know, last weekend i went to Langkawi Island with my friends after a long 3 weeks exam period. It's really a beautiful island with all the potential to be on the same par as Phuket and Bali...just need some tweaking here and there. White sandy beach, hot scorching sun, clear blue sea, lushes paddy field, magnificent mountains and variety flora fauna completed Langkawi as a perfect holiday destination.

Day 1

We arrive in Langkawi around 4.30pm after 1hour 30min uncomfortable boat ride from Kuala Kedah. We go straight to Langkawi cable car by a van that we rented. Our driver for the day is Gamat...crazy little engineer from Segamat. The Oriental Village in the upper northwest of Langkawi Island, near Kok beach, is the entrance for the cable-car ride, which takes visitors all the way up to Mount Mat Cincang, Langkawi’s second highest peak. Malaysian only pay RM15 while non-malaysian Rm30 which worth every penny. After the cable car started to ascend i can feel my heart racing(like before riding a roller coaster). Its crazily high and very steep. If wind blow, we can feel the cabin rawking gently with it. On the very top stations, we can enjoy 360 degree view of the legendary island. My favourite part of it is the skyline bridge...a bridge suspension between 2 mountains. We enjoy our first Langkawi's sunset at the very tip of Mat Cincang..indeed beautiful and breathtaking! After the cable car, we check in at Sri Kijang Resort at Chenang Beach. Its a 4/5 star resort under Bank Negara Malaysia. Thanks to Syaza's sisters for the opportunity to stay a night there.

Day 2

We spent the whole day in Payar Island. It is famous for its beautiful corals, sharks and scuba diving. It takes about one hour to reach it from Langkawi by big boat. We go there under Coral Island and pay about RM140 each. The sad thing is hundreds of people flocking to this island every day which definitely effecting its pristine conditions especially the corals. Actually the corals is a little bit disappointing but the fish is cute and abundant. We pay extra Rm25 to snorkel in the diver site which need to take a 5minute boat ride from the jetty. Its really a great site full with colourful live corals and creatures like puffer fish, eels, starfish, lobster, sea snakes etc.The highlight of the trip is the sharks feeding session. At around 1pm,black tip sharks started to roaming around the beach. The sharks is harmless and ranging in size from size of our both palm to as big as a small dining table.

That evening we spent the rest of the day at Pantai Chenang. We ride the banana boat and it is fun(my 1st experience). Sunset there is superbly stunning. Along the Chenang street, numerous hotels, shops, restaurants, spas, the zone shopping complex and underwater world Langkawi. Chenang Beach is really lively and beautiful which live up to its status as the main beach in Langkawi.

Day 3

At the last day, we take a 4 hours island hopping boat ride to 3 places which is the Beras Basar Island, eagles feeding in Singa Island and Pulau Dayang Bunting. Beras Basah Island as a beautiful white sandy beach with crystal clear water. We take a dip for a while and buried fazrin to make mermaid sand sculpture. SEXY!haha! Next is the eagles feeding in Singa Island. We also see few eagles roaming around the mangroves, unluckily the boatman said that the eagles are full due to the morning feeding sessions. Langkawi gets its name from eagles(heLANG) and kawi rocks. Pulau Dayang Bunting is the last stop. Its famous for its fresh water lake which have its mystical tale...by swimming in it, can help those women who wanted to get pregnant. Around the platform, you can see alot of cat fish and you can have a free fish spa when you dip your leg into it. Eww!haha Beware of the monkeys cause they are fierce and will try to grab anything on your hands. After a refreshing swims in the lake, its time to head back to jetty and end our island hoping. After a quick change of cloth in the jetty, we walk to Dataran Lang to take a picture with the magnificent statue of a Eagles which symbolized Langkawi.

The largest of these islands is called Langkawi Island and is bigger than the Penang Island.
Langkawi consist of 99 islands

Langkawi is coined from the Malay words Lang and Kawi. Lang is a brown eagle and Kawi is a local manganese stone.

Langkawi's most prominent mountains, Gunung Macinchang and Gunung Raya, and a whole series of towns and villages are said to named after a local legend. The story tells the tale of a wedding between two families of giants, with Mat Raya's son wanting to marry Mat Cincang's daughter. During the wedding feast, a fight broke out between the two wedding parties, reputedly because the son was caught flirting with another woman.

During the fight, pots and pans were thrown, and a large pot of gravy (kuah) was broken and the contents flowed onto the ground. The place where the gravy was spilled became known as Kuah (the largest town on Langkawi island) and where the crockery (belanga) was broken (pecah) was location of the village Kampung Belanga Pecah. The gravy seeped into (kisap) the earth at the village named Kisap.

Exam is ALMOST over...one more paper to go..actually not a paper exam but a clinical exam..more action and talking rather than writhing. Gosh! pass few weeks is a living hell. my head is gonna explode due to excessive usage. my brain is melting each time i read medical books! lately I'm not sure if this is right for me?? is this give me happiness? will this give me satisfaction in my later life? is this the life i want to live in?? still not sure. This always surface every time exam or any stressful event related to Meds school. but i will face it, day by day and let time and fate take me where should i go. I just wanna be HAPPY!

Yesterday, i watched Inglourious Basterds by Queintin Tarantino who brings us the marvelous Pulp Fictions and Kill Bill(which i hate!). Chilling out with the guys ( plus Anom..hehe) atGurney GSC after stressful O&G Clinical Exam. I got a case of false labour and i think i do exceptionally well to give me at least a pass. Back to the film, this is the second best work from Quentin after Pulp Fiction. Great story, Great actor and great script except for Brad pit's fake over the top accent! watching his jaw protruding forward the entire film is unpleasant to watch..at least for me. Nonetheless, it still a good and entertaining film. i almost don't wanted to watch this film due to the "Nazi brutality" theme. I'm just had enough of it. but because of the director and the cast..i brave my self to endure another war film. Go and watch it guys! by the way the film is really violent..don't bring young kids with you. PEACE!

Just 2 days before raya, my beloved grandma passed away at the age 86 years old... maybe due to old age. The last time i saw her during last year Raya. She is such a nice person who always smile. She always try to talk to me in Javanese language(I'm pure Jawa!!) which i can't understand at all! I only know few words in Java, Ireng= black, Wes Mangan=already eaten? etc. Both of my parents can speak fluently in Javanese language. Disgrace to my heritage.hehe My father get a phone call from his brother at around 2.30pm friday evening informing that Atok Piah have passed away. We rush to nenek place immediately in Kampung Sri Merlong, Rengit, Batu Pahat. When we arrived she already been bath and the whole night family members and the villages reads Surah Yassin and cited prayers for Atok Piah. She was buried the next morning after Subuh prayer. Hope she will be blessed by Allah and all of us shall miss you.

We already at the 26th day of Ramadhan which means 4 or 5 days left to HARI RAYA! yea! I'm going back to JB this Thursday after the Tanjung Rambutan Psychiatry Hospital visit. I just finished my Psychiatry end of block examination which i think i do quiet fairly(not fabulous!). Mumbling through my long case examination is definitely not fab. I got a case of guys with major depressive disorder with psychotic features presenting with aggressive behavior. Luckily i got the nicest doctor ever, Mr Smiley, Dr. Chan. He keep on listening to my presentation although his ear is bleeding due to my rubbish presentation.haha. That is the new low of my English speaking career! But today i don't received any phones calls from Edna which means that i passed the exam. BRAVO! with the end of psychiatry rotation, that's mean another chapter in PMC is closed. I particularly love this chapter cause of my group mates which i fall in love with. Such a lovely bunch of crazy people. They make this rotation fun and crazy. Thanks guys. Near the end of Ramadhan symbolized the near end of our group "expiry date" but friendships will definitely stays. Hoping that our last trip as a group to Tanjung Rambutan will be a blast!

As usually after every exam, i will released all the stress by binge eating(I'm not Pro-Ana..duh!)haha For this one, i choose TAO Cuisine in Auto-City, Penang to fulfill my depressed soul. Tao served bottomless authentic Asian cuisine for only RM50++. The food is great and the ambiance is fantastic! I like everything in the menu but my favorite is the scallop served in spicy cheese sauce. Sluuurp!! They have wide variety of Asian cuisine includes specialties such as Japanese, Chinese, Thailand, and others. The sushi is also not bad...same standard as Sushi King. We eat a lot until in the verge of vomiting( Kamarul esp). The concept is sorta buffet without the buffet corner. Every dish need to be order and it will be freshly made. The waiter is good and they even informed us which dishes is non-halal. they keep on filling up our drinks without us asking for it. We stay there about 2 hours from 8pm to 10pm. Great place and definitely will go back again. What a great Breaking fast??!! Thanks Mujed for "belanja" me and to Gbam, Yin & Kamarul for the enjoyable binge companion.

Koh Phi Phi or Phi Phi Islands (หมู่เกาะพีพี) are located in Thailand, between the large island of Phuket and the western Andaman Sea coast of the mainland(Krabi province.) I went there for a scuba diving trip end of last year with Debt and Archeng, my HACCerz friends. Such a beautiful and lively islands. Koh Phi Phi is made of 2 main island,Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Leh.

Do you know? The name Phi Phi (pronounced ‘pee pee’) originates from Malay, the original name for the islands were ‘Pulao Pi ah Pi. The name refers to the mangrove wood found there.

Basically Phi Phi Don is the main Island and where the town, hotels etc is situated while Phi Phi Ley is a protected island. Preserve for its beauty! Ko Phi Phi Leh was the backdrop for the 2000 movie The Beach. Leornardo Decaprio in it!?? the beauty is mesmerizing! The island also have a cave called Viking which produced one of the most extravagantly, 'out of this world' expensive bird nest!! Phi Phi Don is so packed with western tourist that i only saw few Thais. It kinda ashamed because all the restaurant and dive shop there are run by non-Thais. Thais claim back your land please! The town is lively day and nights. Night full of lights and pub is bursting with people! Drunk of course! I think the most memorable thing i do in Phi Phi Don is climbing a hill to see the view of the island's sunset. Amazing!

Out of thousand scuba center, I choose Phi Phi Scuba Diving Center and we got a Irish girl as our dive master. Cool! During the dives, we meet a lot of people from around the world. we changes idea and experience about traveling and scuba diving around the world. The best thing is one of the dive master shoots our crazy experience diving there by a underwater video camera. There is a video of me jumping from the boat into the crystal clear ocean! Scary... from about 2nd/3rd floor!

Please god grant my wish before i become a full pledge doctor!

Last Tuesday, some of my friends gather in my humble (yet grand) apartment to break fast together. The concept is potluck, so each person will contribute into the (may i say) break fast parrtaeeyy! haha Its such a lovely and lively evening. All gather at the function hall of Greenlane Park Apartment, just beside the swimming pool which facing the hill. I love this part of my apartment, really peaceful with a really fantastic view of Georgetown. This is where i perfected my breaststroke until i can do multiple rounds.

I'm so amazed that we can gather a lot of food! I really meant a LOT! We can't finish it until 9pm. I cooked the main course which is Chicken Spaghetti Bolognese. My favorite dishes is from Yana's custard trifle. Sorry Yana i just don't want to brag about it at that night...don't want to promote grandiose delusion in you.haha Miss Rachel also join us and guess what she bring with her?? a small bottle ascent of almond which she claims for baking cookies. What Rachel??? We don't have time for making cookies! can you be normal and just buy at the shop like others??haha Oh, don't forget about the perfect homemade banana cake by Mazalin. Perfectly square shape and taste like factory made.haha

This is the best Anti-smoking commercial so far from our Ministry of Health. Bravo! really heart retching and informative in a subtle way. The most sad part is when the mother with mouth cancer wanted to say she love his son..but she can't said it and the son is afraid of her! sob3~. It was directed by Khabir Bhatia (kudos to him!).

Take it as a lesson my dear smoker friends...its not to late to quit! Its not cool anymore to smoke and definitely damn stupid to smoke in public places around people. (Hate people puff at me!) Oh god i love my Malaysia....so much! I know its not perfect, i know its not UK or Australia etc, but its my home sweet home. Where i grew up and fall in love with. Malaysia have its own charm. We have multicultural & multireligious but live together in harmony( although we have a glitch here and there, we are much better compare to other country). We are like rojak buah, it will not be the same if one of the fruits is absence! the balance it altered! with the right kuah it will be magical! Need 40++ type of fruits to represent all of races in Malaysia. This year, Malaysia celebrating its 52nd birthday with theme 1Malaysia. Hoping someday that we can be a true 1Malaysia!

This year i celebrated my birthday with only few of my friends because others went back to their hometown due to the long weekend. It is a modest event in Pen Mutiara Restaurant, Batu Maung during our breaking fast. Its really a splendid place with great food and good ambiance. The Fish Head Curry is the killer! Recommended!

I cooked Nasi Lemak for break fast in Wednesday and the outcome was a disaster! The Sambal that i made was extremely salty beyond imagination! Quotes from Kamarul "Is this sea water??" Actually true..its so salty that it can cause immediate hypertension to whoever try to taste it! Dizziness, tinnitus and confusion is the primary symptoms of this Sambal induce hypertension. This is the 1st time ever in my cooking carrier something like this had happen. In fact, my Nasi Lemak is so popular among my friends in Dublin! haha. The last time i cook Nasi lemak is at least 6 month ago..kinda loss the touch i guest. The fall of the Iron Chef!haha

The culprit! i try to make caramelized sugar to sweeten my sambal...but instead i used salt! I'm not concentrating at all. The 'sugar' do not melt..and people watching me...panic!..trow it into the sambal without thinking at all!?? Sugar should melt!! stupid!

My 2 cents: This piece from Yasmin is really implicit...make me think a lot! For me the Chinese guy is mesmerized by the Malay girl but suddenly distracted by the mother's voice, all thought about racial difference coming back to him which make him become rude to her. Hoping that he left the chocolate so that she will come back to take it....a sweet end!

My 2 cents: 1st of all, why can our dream house is our own house although it is small, dusty and ugly.. but full of love, caring and hope??A mansion full of Ferrari or with helicopter pad doesn't promised you happiness! It it so sad to see the world full of greediness which sometimes comes with lack of heart! Really reminds me of Kg. Buah Pala..hope their problems will be solved and soon get their dream house! This is my favorite so far!

In November, few of my friends and I will be joining a outreach mission in rural area of Miri, Sarawak under MERCY Malaysia. The 4 day mission is to serve the unfortunate Penans and Kayans who lives in the villages in Long Bedian which is not equipped with proper health service. The trip will consist of Doctors, dentist,optometrist and other volunteers ranging from nurses,engineers to humble students like us. I will definitely write the detail of my journey there here..someday..after we have achieved the goal.
MERCY Malaysia or Malaysian Medical Relief Society is a non-profit organization focusing on providing medical relief and sustainable health related development for vulnerable communities. It was founded by Datuk Dr. Jemilah Mahmood (an obstetrics-gynaecologist) in June 1999 after faced much difficulty in getting the needed support from already established organisations to help those people involve in Kosovo War at that time. Its already 10 years, and MERCY Malaysia have achieved wonders and greatness. They not only had help those in Malaysia, they open up their wings to other countries like Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar,India, Sudan, Afghanistan, Palestine and the list goes on.

Dr Jemilah is my Idol, a superwomen with a kind heart and always thinks others in need. I salute you!She had resign the post as president of MERCY to fulfill a fantastic opportunity as a Chief of the Humanitarian Response branch for the United Nations Populations Fund (UNFPA). Congratulations and farewell Dr Jamelih. Make Malaysian proud in United Nation!

Heart warming story of MERCY & Dr Jemilah.

Dr Jemilah was in Geneva waiting for a friend to pick her up near the Broken Chair monument on Place des Nations. A group of Sudanese women were gathered around there after a meeting and one of them came up to ask if she was from Malaysia – probably guessing from the way she tied her headscarf.

When Dr Jemilah replied that she was, to her surprise the woman then asked if she knew Mercy Malaysia.

“I froze. I said ‘yes. Why?’ She said ‘I am from El Geneina in West Darfur and now we don’t have to be afraid to give birth because Mercy Malaysia has built a reproductive health centre. They also trained our midwives and doctors so no one has to die in childbirth.”

Dr Jemilah was doubly shocked when the woman then asked if she knew Mercy’s Dr Jemilah.

“I panicked because I was wondering how I was going to answer that. And the woman fished out her call card and she was from a Sudanese local organisation so I fished out mine.

“When she saw my card, she couldn’t believe it. There was an uproar and she started screaming in Arabic and a lot of people started crowding around me,” she says.

At this point, Dr Jemilah was “rescued” by her friend who was honking from the car. So Dr Jemilah excused herself and got in.

I postpone my backpacking trip to China due to this outreach mission. I think i made the right decision and definitely will be one hell of an experience that i can cherish and share. Hope i can contribute more to MERCY after this and wishing that i will be like Dr. Jemilah...a true 'Doctor without borders'.

p/s: the China trip will be replace with something else which need half the time and half the budget...any idea?? thinking of Scuba diving in Bali or Candi Borubodur & Mount Merapi in Yogjakarta or enjoying sunset at Angkor Wat? hmmm...

Try to increase our prayers, stay away from bad stuff, don't eat to much during breaks and lastly, prepare for Hari Raya! Yea! Can't wait to eat my mom 'ketupat' with 'ayam masak merah', 'redang' and 'sayur lodeh' drooool!

This episodes of Upin and Ipin totally brings me back to my childhood memory, my 1st time fasting. Remember trying our hardest to open our eyes during sahur? and try to survive the 1st day of fasting without "curi-curi makan"? and eating like you never eaten before during breaking the fast? Betul!betul!betul! haha.

I decided to dedicate my blog to promote Malaysian made film and thus helping our film industry which still in a slum. We have talents,We have resources...but why Malaysian film are not well known even to Malaysian themselves? sigh! That why I want to emphasize the important to support Good Malaysian Film! Lots of low quality (stupid, may I say) film out there...we should choose wisely. For me i choose a film base on the director previous film, the producer and last, the cast. Totally against film by so-called Prof Madya! I'm traumatized to watch Malaysian film for several years because of his film. Oh god! But my faith had restored by newcomers like Khabir Bhatia, Ho yuhang, James Lee, Bernard Chauly, Yasmin Ahmad, Afdlin Shauki and much more. There is still glimpse of hope for Malaysian Film Industry.

District 9 is awesome. It is the hybrid of Cloverfield, 28 days later and slumdog millionaire!haha. A cool film which is narrated in a way like a documentary. Lots of action, aliens and human exploded to pieces... Boys definitely will love this film! Humanitarian (and even aliens) rights is the core of this film social message. Lets see how far a man can go and do extraordinary stuff when he is pushed to the limit, only for his love one and believes!

Autism- "It is because he looks so normal ...people just don't understand"

I had a opportunity learn more about autism during a psychiatry rotation visit to The Association of Resource and Education for Autistic Children (Lions REACh) in Gelugor. The center is build to help those children who diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum disorders especially Autism. Nowadays, autism becoming more and more common... 1 in 150 children are diagnosed with autism worldwide.

Autism is a life-long developmental disability that generally appears between 15 and 20 months of age which is characterized by :

Problems with Social interaction
Impairment of communication
Repetitive and stereotyped patterns of behavior and activities

The center is a non-government and non-profit organization which runs on donations and volunteering. Lead by a noble, cheerful and optimistic Dr See Ching Mey. We were given talk about the autism itself and the role of the center in shaping the life of autism kids so he or she can blend and function in the community that sometime can be cruel and unaware of their problems. During the visit, we had a chat with 3 kids who is a regular to the center and each of them have different level autism severity. We get to observed their behavior but more important, knowing how autism had affected their life, family, friends and society.

It's remarkable how the center have help this kids and their family which is simply described by the drawing below. It was drawn by the oldest of the kids who is 17 years old. He astronomically improved after attending the center for 11 years and honestly, i really can't see any features of autism in him. After chatting with his teachers, he still have some problems in socializing with people and we find out that he has a best friend who only calling him by phone asking help for his English homework. sigh!

Thank you for those that help me to open my eyes and look them in different perspective. They are just like other kids....but more unique and interesting, who need people around them to understand and treat them accordingly, and definitely with lots of love and care! let them be apart of the society.

I'm a Scuba Diver!

I develop interest with deep sea diving after growing up watching Animal Planet and National Geographic. I got my diving license in Semporna, Sabah back in July 2008 under Scuba Junkie with few of my friends. Its really hard and tiring to get the license but its really fun and unforgettable experience especially when you with the 5 manic people!haha. We learn the theory in Semporna and practical at 2 insanely beautiful island, Sibuan and Mabul. After we are officially become a diver, we straight away jump into water of Sipadan Island which is few miles away from Mabul. Sipadan is just simply Wow!! It's one of the best diving spot in the world and even become the finalist for "the New 7 Nature Wonders of the World". Lots of turtles, corals and my favorite, a group of Barracudas that looks like a giant ball from afar! Sabah never fails me!! Fall in love with Sipadan and definitely will go there again!

My first ever debut as a Director!!
Directing a short film for LAN studies in my college (PMC). It was made around May 2008. Lovin the incredible excitement and experience of producing my first ever baby. Hope to make more in the future (but the future kinda cloudy.sigh!).

Initially, we are asked to do a live performance for the LAN project, we as a group decided instead fooling our-self in front of people...why not a short film instead as a representation of us! By the way, we are such a stage fright freaks.haha. The script develop organically and evolve as we shooting the video which about youth and drug. The qoute:" Why do we hurt the most, the one we love the most" i took from Yasmin Ahmad's Gubra Film which i can't not find any other better word to end and summarized the video. Thanks to her for the heart-retching yet inspiring words.

The performance by the cast ware superb! Can't believe that the lovely Fong Juen and my guitarist housemate, Dzhafri is not a real couple! haha. Do you noticed that there is two different father of Karrim?? The one in the House scene is Zaim and the one in morque is me. Good acting ya?? Btw, Zaim and Ekin (zaim's wife in the video) are happily married now in real life..hope they will not have a child with the same fate as the their son in the short film. amin! Hanif is great as a cameraman and cinematographer! WOW! and our little Louise done a great job editing it! The most memorable scene to shoot is during the clubbing scene held in my apartment living room. I laugh a lot! Zaim is such a good yet ridiculous shuffler and the dancing lights is actually from pen torches which we use to check patients mouth! haha.

Just finish watchin Malaysian Film Festival 2009 which is held in Negeri Di Bawah Bayu, Sabah. The tribute to Yasmin Ahmad really touch my heart...the genius in film and GURU in advertising is gone 4eva...i grow up with her Ad in Tv..i basically will wait every Hari Raya, chinese New year, Deepavali, Independance day etc for her Ad. How to self diagnosed Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD)

Although the prevalence written in the book only <1%, i think it is much bigger than that..haha... I accounted a lot sufferer roaming around undiagnosed and untreated in this universe! So i act as unqualified Dr. Sanity to help our world to be a better place.haha

What is NPD?
Sufferer basically will have a sense of superiority, a need for admiration, and a lack of empathy. They consider themselves "special" and will exploit others for their own gain. Despite their grandiosity, however, these patients often have fragile self-esteem.

Lets start the self-diagnosing!
Read situation below, If any of situation in each number either you experience or will likely or love to do in the future,

Yo yo yo!

This is the new beginning for my writing skills to be publicly humiliated. hahaha. Hope i can carry this burden of writing stuff and continue pleasuring my readers....who i think will only be my friends and family in which i will force them to read it!!Bare in mind i have really bad grammar and this is a try & error. One thing that i can only promise is it will be one hell of a ride!!So, buckle up your seat belt guys!!hahaha.
